Who we are
Eternal Obituary (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides tools to create, manage, and share online memorial pages. If you have questions about this policy, email us at support@eternalobituary.com.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:
- Account information — your name, email address, password (stored securely; we never see your plain-text password), and login activity.
- Memorial content you add — names, dates, obituaries, photos, gallery images, timeline entries, service details, RSVP settings, and anything else you publish on a memorial page.
- Payment information — billing details are processed by our payment partners (Stripe and PayPal). We store subscription status, plan type, and transaction references — not your full card number.
- Visitor submissions — when guests use your page, they may submit a name, email address, message, photo, memory wall post, gallery upload, or RSVP response. You control what becomes public through moderation.
- Technical data — basic device and browser information, IP address, and logs needed to keep the site secure and running.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the memorial page service
- Save your work, sync your account, and authenticate you when you sign in
- Display memorial content you choose to publish
- Send transactional emails (welcome messages, activation reminders, password resets, and similar service notices)
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Respond to support requests
- Protect against abuse, fraud, and security issues
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use memorial pages to serve third-party advertising.
User-uploaded content
You and your co-managers upload photos, obituaries, and other materials to build a memorial. Visitors may also submit content (gallery photos, memory wall messages, and similar items).
You are responsible for having the right to share that content and for moderating visitor submissions before they appear publicly, when moderation is enabled. We store this content so we can display it according to your page settings.
Third-party services we use
We rely on trusted partners to run Eternal Obituary. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage for memorial content
- Stripe — card payments and subscriptions
- PayPal — alternative payment option
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery
When you pay, Stripe or PayPal handles your payment details directly. We receive confirmation and billing metadata needed to activate or renew your plan.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for sign-in, security, and remembering your preferences. We may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited and whether features work as expected).
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent some parts of the service from working correctly.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and memorial content for as long as your account and pages are active. If you delete a memorial page or close your account, we remove or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information for legal, security, or billing purposes.
Backup copies may persist for a short time before they are overwritten. Payment records may be kept longer as required by law and our payment processors.
Your choices
You can:
- Update memorial content and account details from your dashboard
- Set a page to draft, active, or closed visibility
- Approve or reject visitor submissions before they go live
- Delete a memorial page from your dashboard (this is permanent)
- Contact us to request access to or deletion of personal data tied to your account
Children
Eternal Obituary is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
